Burcu Döner has extensive experience in banking & finance and capital markets law. She has been practicing law since 2002 as a member of the Istanbul Bar Association.
Burcu worked for 4 years as an associate in one of Turkey’s leading law firms, Paksoy Law Firm, serving to a wide portfolio of local and international clients. She represented and advised the local and multinational companies as well as foreign investors in respect of privatization tenders, public offerings and mergers & acquisitions.
Between 2005-2009, she worked as the in-house counsel of both Danone Tikvesli and Danone Hayat, which are the Turkish wholly-owned subsidiaries of French giant Group Danone. In Danone, she provided legal consultancy to all levels of business proactively, followed up reputational commercial, IP and IT cases and supported the top management as a member of the crisis team.
Prior to founding her own law firm, she worked for 8 years in the legal department of Turk Ekonomi Bankasi, a joint venture of a French bank BNP Paribas. She actively worked in merger process of TEB and Fortis Bank, two public banks; acted as main responsible for local and international subsidiaries of the bank; involved in various due diligence processes and corporate restructuring projects; supported the operations of all business lines, from individual banking to private banking, SMEs, corporate banking and corporate institutional banking (CIB) as well as support functions of the bank (IT, Risk, Compliance, Operations, HR).
She was recently acting in the bank as the head of and single point of contact for corporate banking, treasury & global markets (fixed income), corporate institutional banking and subsidiaries department. She worked on various issuance of debt instruments and structured products being also member of new product and activity committees; led various project finance, commodity finance, export finance and structured finance projects as well as syndications and club & bilateral loans.
She is currently managing her business from both UK and Turkey.
